Gp. Capt. Yogesh Sharma is a 1973 batch pass out in Mechanical Engineering from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh. He served in Indian Air Force as a commissioned officer in Aeronautical Engineering(Mechanical) branch for 33 long years. A highly-respected specialist in helicopters, he distinguished himself by achieving highest maintenance standards in difficult terrains of Siachen Glacier in Laddakh, tricky and remote mountainous bases facing Chinese borders of Arunachal Pradesh to inhospitable sand dunes studded border posts in Rajasthan. He was member of Indian Scientific Expedition to the coldest and farthest region on earth, Antarctica, from November 1989 to April 1990. A widely-travelled officer to many countries, he also visited UN Peace Keeping Forces in Sierra Leone, West Africa, during height of insurgency between government and rebel forces.
He did his Masters in Management Studies from Osmania University, Hyderabad in 2001 and was Head of Management Faculty and Chief Instructor in Air Force Technical College, Bangalore. He retired as Director Training from Air Headquarters, Vayu Bhawan, New Delhi in 2006.
